We don’t need Superman, but we do need you!

We don’t need Superman to get the club ready for the new season… but we do need you!

There is plenty of work to do, but many hands make light work. That is why we have our ECB CricketForce Day 2016 at 10am on Sunday, April 3.

We welcome club members, as well as our neighbours in the community who would like to lend a hand.

We have a variety of jobs that need doing, and we won’t ask anyone to tackle anything they are not entirely comfortable doing.

If anyone has any ideas for the clubhouse, such as a new colour scheme or anything else that will enhance our great ground, then let me know, otherwise please use the form below to confirm your attendance as soon as possible so I can allocate people to each job required.

Finally, there will be bacon rolls and refreshments. See you all there!

New season, new faces

After a successful annual meeting, which was held late last year and was well attended by our members, Bredon Cricket Club is actively planning for the new cricket season.

Sadly, we have lost the services of Ric and Sally New, who have been extremely hard working stalwarts of the club over many years.

However, a new committee, led by new chairman Neil Hall, has already met twice and both meetings were very positive.

Plans are in place to lead Bredon Cricket Club into a new season.

Groundsman wanted for our much-admired cricket field

Cricket bat and ball
We are looking for a groundsman. Can you help?

The club has sadly lost the services of Brian Ricketts, who has prepared our wickets over many seasons to great acclaim from visiting teams and the Worcestershire County League.

We are proud to have even had a few awards for our pitch, a beautiful swathe of green in a tranquil spot at Hill Close, Westmancote.

But now we need someone to take over from Brian. We would like to hear from anyone from Bredon or the surrounding area interested in taking on this rewarding role.

We have all the equipment needed, and help and expertise from our committee will be on hand.

An honorarium will be arranged, but this job would be very much a hobby and a labour of love. It would suit someone who has an interest in cricket and a little time to spare every week, particularly over the summer season.

They will be able to enjoy working on their own terms in a delightful rural setting, and have the reward of maintaining our reputation as a club with renowned wickets.

If you are interested in the role and would like to find out more please complete the form below:

Can you still swing a bat?

Over 45? Can you still swing a bat? This might just be the competition for you.

After the successful first year of the Over 45s Cup Competition in 2015, the competition will be run again this season.

Hobsons Brewery are now the sponsor, and further details of their support will be released soon.

The competition is aimed at clubs who have older players, aged 45 and over, who want to play cricket in a fun and relaxed environment.

The competition will run as a cup and plate (for losing teams from the first round) competition, starting in mid-June and finishing with the final in early September.

If your club is interested in joining the competition, but you don’t feel you have enough players, then there is an option for two or more clubs to work together and create a ‘cluster’ club.

Download information sheets below for more details.

Get ready for the new season at winter nets

Our indoor practices begin next month at Prince Henry’s High School, Evesham.

They will take place on Wednesday evenings throughout February and March, beginning on Wednesday, February 3, from 9pm.

Nets helps sharpen up everyone for the season; it’s also terrific fun. Please try to attend.
