Message from the chairman: As lockdown eases, enjoy cricket and drinks with friends at Bredon

I hope you are well and have managed to navigate the trials and tribulations that we have all faced over the last 12 months.

The new cricket season is nearly upon us and we are opening the clubhouse bar at Bredon in line with government guidelines from Friday, April 16, with the first league cricket game (a First XI home fixture against Himbleton) starting at 12.30pm on Saturday, April 17.

There will be waiter service, and lots of outdoor seating at the clubhouse. Payment is by CARD ONLY. The bar is open from 6pm on Friday (April 16) and 3pm on Saturday (April 17).

There is no junior registration day this year. Joining instructions have been sent to team managers. Junior members wishing to join the club for the first time can find more information here.

We have been working hard to improve the facilities at Hill Close, and would like to say a big thank you to Tewkesbury Garden Centre for their generosity in donating new picnic benches to the club, and to Folly Gardens Veterinary Clinic for their sponsorship of our new covers. We are always on the lookout for any individual or company who might wish to sponsor the club in our efforts to offer the best possible facilities for playing and watching cricket at our amazing ground.

If you think you may be able to support us, please do not hesitate to contact me at neil@hallonline.co.uk.

Alongside the new facilities, we are hoping to run a full social programme for our members, with live music, a charity golf day, the return of our popular tower run, a comedy night and other events. We will be posting details later in the spring/summer on our Facebook page.

So, fingers crossed, exciting times are ahead with a chance to meet up with friends, socialise and enjoy what will hopefully be a long, hot summer (I’m forever the optimist!)

I look forward to seeing you in the months ahead.

We don’t need Superman, but we do need you!

We don't need Superman, but we do need you!
We don’t need Superman, but we do need you!

We don’t need Superman to get the club ready for the new season… but we do need you!

There is plenty of work to do, but many hands make light work. That is why we have our ECB CricketForce Day 2016 at 10am on Sunday, April 3.

We welcome club members, as well as our neighbours in the community who would like to lend a hand.

We have a variety of jobs that need doing, and we won’t ask anyone to tackle anything they are not entirely comfortable doing.

If anyone has any ideas for the clubhouse, such as a new colour scheme or anything else that will enhance our great ground, then let me know, otherwise please use the form below to confirm your attendance as soon as possible so I can allocate people to each job required.

Finally, there will be bacon rolls and refreshments. See you all there!
